Tomebound — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 12 July 2026

Tomebound is a Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition character manager published by Joseph Keer. This policy explains what data the app handles and where it goes.

Data stored on your device

Your characters, imported compendium content, notes, dice-roll history, and settings are stored only on your device. We have no account system and no cloud storage — we cannot see, access, or recover this data. Deleting the app (or using the in-app reset) permanently removes it.

Party mode (local network sessions)

When you join or host a game session, session data — display names, character summaries, chat messages, dice rolls, and battle-map state — is shared directly with the other devices in the same session over your local network. This data is not sent to our servers or any cloud service.

Camera (AR battle map)

The optional AR battle map uses your camera to detect surfaces and place the game board. Camera imagery is processed on-device by your operating system's AR framework (ARCore / ARKit) and is never recorded, stored, or transmitted by the app.

Advertising

The free version shows banner ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device identifiers (such as the advertising ID), approximate location derived from IP address, and ad-interaction data to serve and measure ads. Where required by law (for example in the EEA and UK), the app asks for your consent before any of this happens, and you can withhold or withdraw it. See Google's Privacy Policy and how Google uses data from apps that use its services.

Purchasing the premium upgrade removes ads, and no advertising data is collected thereafter.

Purchases

Premium purchases are processed entirely by Google Play or the Apple App Store. We never receive your payment details. If you redeem a premium unlock code, the code alone is sent to our server to check its validity — no personal information accompanies it and nothing about you is stored.

Error reports

If you choose to send a problem report (Settings → Report a problem), your description is sent to our server together with the app version, your device's operating system and version, hardware specifications (device model, screen size, processor, and memory), and — when reporting a crash — technical error details. The report contains nothing else and is used solely to investigate and fix the problem. Reports are stored in our private issue tracker.

What we don't do

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Your rights

Because your game data never leaves your device, exercising deletion is as simple as removing the app. For advertising data, consent can be managed through the in-app consent form (where shown) or your device's advertising settings (resetting or deleting your advertising ID). EEA/UK users have the rights provided by the GDPR; contact us to exercise them.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we will update this page and the "last updated" date above.
